it was simply touching. and mabel, no matter how much i make fun of you for choosing all those sappy love sentimental songs that were supposed ta make us cry, you still did a good job. :) creating that romantic atmosphere and all, organising everything. THANK YOU ALL.

hey guys! thanks alot for everything! im really touched today.. with all ure effort.. im sure other sec fours are equally as appreciative! like wad kyna said... this is the first time we didnt have to serve anyone food.. we got served instead.. and actually i felt good! i felt like royalty! u guys made me feel special and no words can explain how much i cannot bear to part with ij dance ensemble! i dun wanna goo! i hope i fail my "O" level.. ahha. i noe some of u all might not wanna see me again and be scolded.. haha. but i do wanna see u all! haha. i will come back occasionally to visit u guys.. and must welcome me with open arms ahhh. haha! today's party was just fabulous. the food was great.. the games were exciting and the bracelets u guys gave us were absolutely cute!!! i will take it and send it to some jewelry shop to 'polish' it every month. i'll treasure it my whole life.


lets not look at this as if it was the end.. its a new beggining.

you know wad..no matter how much i hurt u guys by my sharp words. u still forgive me and showed me ure maturity and 'love' .. esp today.. im really thankful u have such wonderful juniors.. really. sincerely, honestly, i tresure u guys alot. thanks for being so understanding and apprehensive.

Basically, bring all these items for the camp, if u dun have the performance(hair and make-up) items, u should start buying them. It’s a long term investment. As for the rest like shampoo and all, u can share them with your friends. Just as long as everyone knows what to bring!

omg guys this is like the first time im publishing an entry cuz i just found out the password!! ahahah. owells! for those not used to my poor english, pls excuse me.. :P


anyways!! syf-ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey guys! u all did a marvellous job!! im so proud of each and everyone of you... i think we already did our "sharing" session last wed? but still i have to repeat myself. :P u all mean alot to me mann.. dancing through this journey with you guys was so memorable!!! i'll never forget all the fun we had.. of course there were times when we had to get serious.. and i might have shouted at u guys.... but pls pls pls... i didnt exactly meant to pin point on individuals... it was just tt moment where some things were a lil outta hand? so ya..... sorry ah! :P
anyways! we all made it through!!!!! remember that gold was what we were aiming for? :D and we achieved our target!!! and we have alot of ppl to thank for that...

1st: we have to thank Mrs Zailee!!!!!!! Mrs Zailee!!!! we really appreciate all that you have done for us!!! all the late nights? all the schedulings? all the prep talks? all the correction of errors? all the motivation we received ffrom you? u noe wad.... alot of things la! nothing can describe all the effort u went throught just to ensure the smooth sailing of our sfy... :) we really thank you!!!!

2nd: chee wei! thanks for the absolutely amazing music that u composed that totally displayed ure talented self! haha. and the recording of our dances... and the edition u are about to do? ( i hope) haha. yupp!! and the lights on that actual day? the lights(although ABIT dark)were amazing!! and they contrasted with our white and gold costumes which made us stood out more!! i bet we looked great on stage though it was a lil difficult to dance with... hee! but ya.

there are like so many many more ppl to thank!!!!!!!!!!!!! but im afraid i cant possibly flood the dance blog with my very first entry? so ya!!!!

Hey guys!! Let's breathe life back into our fatigued bodies and wow the judges for our syf central judging! c'mon guys, we can do it! and we will do it! we're just gonna give it our all, to make sure we won't fall! :) there is a hell lot of potential to be unleashed, in each and everyone of you! why do u think i keep giving u guys pep talks? that's because i Believe that you guys can do better! i know because ive seen it before. i also know that everyone is tired and feeling totally lethargic towards syf! but time is running out, if ure not going to give your best shot now, when do u want to? On the day itself? being well prepared makes all the difference in the world! remember what zaki said? people screw up the steps because of not enough practice! and we're definitely striving for more here! being tired is not an excuse for not putting your full energy into every single run. that is just a lack of discipline. Do u want to pass that on to your juniors for your next syf? Your mentalities have to change, and make it quick!

Syf is on thursday which is about 2 and a half hours of practice time away! let's make full use of what we have and show everyone what we've got on thursday! now is NOT the time to relax! instead, now is the time to work harder than before and make sure we perfect our steps and our dance. choir has already gotten a gold. we're next. what will we have to present to our school? that decision still lies within our grasp. we can make a difference!!

And u know what? we can do it! i know we can do it!! let's just be the best that we can be, do the best that we can and just hope for the best! there is always hope and light at the end of the tunnel! and we're already reaching for the light? we're just this close to feeling the warmth of it! we CANNOT give up now! definitely not! ij dancers are tough! dun forget, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going! and that's what we're made off!
Now, let's give it our all and leave the stage without a single regret on thursday. let it be a moment of pride for each and everyone of us.

OK Girls, (referring to the seniors / graduates)

CHIJ is putting up another performance at Kallang Theatre, 26th May 2005. and yes, I'm producing the whole show this time.

I'm seriously looking around for Graduated dancers who are interested to take part in this performance for CAMEO appearance.

I have not come up with a firm script yet but basically i'm planning to get a good number of alumni Dancers to make cameo performances.

when I say Cameo, i really mean it.. the whole performance is called "The IJ Heartbeat".. and it's going to comprise of various groups, from Dance Ens to Basketballs. and we're attempting to link up all the item through some dance / movement thing and that's where I'll need the alumni to come in. it's really short short segments. not more than 90 seconds. per dancers..

I need to finish working on all the 'links' by 15th May.

The expected rehearsal schedules are as follows..

between last week of April and 15th May: 3 rehearsal sessions at the new De Claffer Studios (in Serangoon Gardens walking distance from the cathedral)
20th May to 24th May: 2 - 3 combined sessions at Ij Toa Payoh
25th May: Full Dress Reh at Kallang Theatre
26th MAy: Performance Day.

The more dancers I get, the less each dancer has to perform, hence less stressful. so please sign up! It's FREE REGISTRATION! (Muahaha!)

it was sooooo good to see you all again today at Kallang Theatre and OMGGG..your item is suppperrr nice!!! :):) My SA seniors were all saying you all were damn "zai" or bascially is very good!!! and trust me it WAS GOOD!! :)

im so very proud of you guys!!! i feel damn shiok being able to say "hey i came from IJ TP DANCE!!!", but that aside, im even more proud of the fact that a lot of you guys have improved tremendously in your contemporary techniques and im glad we have branched out of hiphop!!

seriously, you all look damn good on stage!

the costumes are fab, and chee wei's done a wonderful job with the music again and of course the mastermind Zaki has come up with such a refreshing item it's just tooo dammnnn good!!!

just a word of advice to you all is to SMIIILLEE!!! it would make the whole item a million times better than it already is! WOAH! :)

you all have worked hard on SYF and i can see that your you are baring your fruits of labour. good job guys!

well.. here's a line that I'd like to share with everyone who reads this blog, dancer, ex-dancers or non-dancers...

deborah, thanks a lot for that message.
however, i'd just like to mention some things.
i'm glad that you enjoyed your experience in sizzle and that you treasure it so much especially since it was your first time. (and also cos it makes me feel a lil less guilty for being such a slave driver. haha)
and i'm also happy that the you always remember your time in sizzle..
but i'd just like to remind you that although sizzle was the champion last year, sizzle does not exist anymore.
it's not that i want to be a wet blanket.
just that i wouldn't want all of mr tan's efforts to have gone to waste.
we don't want anymore domination of teams.
if you are unclear abt this, you can always ask tengming or kyna about it but i don't wish to broadcast it online.
yes, at this point last year, we were probably celebrating or rejoicing over the fact that sizzle won.
but it was NOT OUR triumph.
it WAS and ALWAYS will be IJ'S triumph and glory.
sizzle was just the fortunate one out of the 3 to achieve that for IJ.
Being champion in the past won't make you a champion in the future.
So my point is this: When we completed danceworks 2004, we should have walked away with good memories of the competition and the qualities required to achieve success in the future.
But what we should NOT have walked away with is a false sense of pride in ourselves that WE have received glory and that WE have triumped in the competition.
As for me, even though i was the team leader, i never considered Sizzle as MY team. Getting first was never MY win or MY glory.
i was merely serving my school and it has always been in my mind, IJ's team, IJ's win, IJ's glory.
in my mind, Sizzle was just another team sent in to do the school proud.
of course i'm proud that sizzle did well but at the same time, i am not too happy that you want to remember this moment of triumph because i don't think it would be beneficial and useful to the school.
Remember that all you do is supposed to be for IJ and not for yourself.
so for the sake of the new dancers who just came in and for the sake of IJ DANCE ENSEMBLE's future, we'll always remember sizzle as doing the school proud, not forgetting Jam and Fling, as well as this year's teams but we won't have special dates or events to commemerate the day of the competition.
we will just remember it in our heads and hearts as the day where our hard work paid off and when we managed to do IJ proud.
It doesn't matter whether or not you were a dancer in sizzle, jam, fling or not in ANY of the teams... by winning that competition, we have ALL won.
so put aside names and past groupings and face the future with determination and lessons learnt from the past so that IJ DANCE can once again achieve something for the school.
this message goes out to everyone in Dance ok? all the best for the syf.. i'm sure ya'll wll do great. x)

it was my first year and i experienced such a big and great thing.

i was really blessed to be in sizzle and have such great seniors who made me feel very comfortable in dance.

Hey Gals,

To all those of you who were involved in the World Expo's "MTV" Filming last Sunday, Great Job and Thanks once again! I can't wait to get back to Singapore to see the video editing (I'm in HONG KONG!)! I'm sure you are going to look really great.

Just to let you know that Your Dance Ens is the ONLY school in singapore that has been selected for this event. the other dancers involved in other segments are from societies and professional dance people. So proud of all of you!

Let's see what Else I can do for you over the next few months k? meanwhile STUDY SMART for your mid years! oh yah.. and dance harder for your SYF! *heh!*

Like helloooooooo~~~ we said that u guys just had to do your 200% and your very best best best right??? i kinda feel like all my saliva had been shooting past your ears hahas! overshot! =P
Since u guys have already given your all, there is nothing to worry about. Because we know that u have done your very best and also that u guys have done so well in the competition! It was very impressive! Think about it, most of u are still juniors. And it's your first year competing! Nobody can just jump to first place without experience. EXPERIENCE. Now that u guys have it, u know how a competition feels like. the electric atmosphere. the suffocating smell of millions of hair sprays. the excitement and the adrenaline rush. I hope u guys have enjoyed it and feel that it's a memorable and meaningful experience! come on, learn new things as u grow! :):) Let's all make a comeback next year! there's always another chance for u to grab! It's sooo not the end of the world.
Just cos u guys didnt get to finals this year, it does not mean that u guys are forever doomed not to make it! You know what ij gals are made of. What DANCE girls are made of.We are not definitely not weak. Are we going to let this competition bring us down? The answer is NO! WE are stronger and more resilient that that. Don't ever let anything bring u down. U alone know your self-worth. Are u really so easily defeated? You can always stand up again on your own feet. Believe in yourself and most importantly, stay true to yourself. Keep in mind that ure not doing this for anyone else but yourself! That should be your motivation! And as long as you've done as much as u possibly can, move on and strive to do better next time. Life is too short for regrets. :)
We believe that guys can do it. :) And we know that u will. You guys have got what it takes. Never doubt yourself. You need to believe in yourself before other believe in you. Nothing is impossible if u've got enough nerve. Although you have to work hard to get the deserving results, sometimes, because of unforeseen circumstances, it doesn't work out. All that u can do is to suck in anything that life throws at u and continue moving. Just take it in your stride. Always strive to do Better.
For everything that u do, you can always do better with the extra effort. :) the whole dance ensemble is supporting u all the way! :) Never think that u are alone.
Last but not least, i'll like to thank jenna and kristy for taking our their time to choreograph for us. :) thank you. :) u guys did a good job!
And Corinne, Rox, Sam and pinky for coming down to support us and even helping us with the preparations! :) all the make up and explosive hair! hahhas! :)

hey guys.. my first time blogging.. anyway.. wanted to thank dance for giving us ur full support for danceworks. thank u so much!

POISON! although we didn't win or anything, i wanna let y'all know that i'm very very very proud of y'all! after all the scolding, y'all showed great improvement. and i must say some of y'all were very determined to learn and practised hard.. but that was after all the scolding.. ahha. but now y'all know, that's the kind of attitude dancers must have. to be determined and hardworking! i guess my job was done. i love y'all! sorry for giving y'all hell but i had no choice but to do it.
i have yet to see the video that birdie took! who else recorded the full dance? i wanna see!! and i also have yet to see last year's dance at the finals! i love sizzle's dance!!!! time has passed real fast. it was just last year that i was so happy celebrating.. ah.. i miss that feeling.. well.. we can't always win.. there are ups and downs in these kinda things.. but POISON, don't be disappointed cuz there are other chances in life. don't give up now.. for most of y'all in that group it's your first time. so it's okay. just get the feel of it. like what corinne said.. we'll kick their asses next year!

Danceworks is like super super SUPER DUPER FUN!!
so you all must get into the groove of things and enjoy
every minute of!

We all know that this is a competition so stay focussed
and don't, not even for 1 second get complacent about it
just because we managed to clinch the top spot in 2004.

A lot of you are also having reserves about your own
abilities and techniques regarding dance but no matter
what, do have confidence in yourself,
the same way that i have the utmost confidence in all of
you guys to put in your best and do your best for Danceworks!

For a lot of you, this is also your first time competeting and
thus the millions and kerbillions of butterflies in your tummys.

But when you are on stage, i just want all of you to know that
right there, smack in the audience, we are ALL behind you all the way.
we will be cheering for you, we will be screaming for you,
we will be clapping for you and we will be there being PROUD of what you've put up.

and no matter what the outcome is
(although i really want to see you all at the finals)

(the others didn't get back to me about their results!) I really should call up my DJ friends in the radio stations and make song dedications to you man! but... NVM... (grins). You've done Dance Ens. proud!

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PERFORMERS OF "A PHANTOM'S LULLABY" (SYF 2003) WHO HAVE SINCE GRADUATED.

The school will be organising a concert at Kallang Theatre on 27th May 2005. Needless to say, Dance Ens. will be presenting "the Return of the Phantom - Apocalypse" on that night.

Ms Theodora Tan and Mrs Matthews hopes that we will be able to relive our previous SYF dance item. "A Phantom's Lullaby". And perform it together with "The Return of the Phantom - Apocalypse. "

It would be really great if we can get back the original cast to perform "A Phantom's Lullaby"

This is an open call for all the orginal cast dancers who were performed "A Phantom's Lullaby" (those who have graduated) to contact me via email and furnish me with your contact details. At the same time, give me an indication of whether you would be interested in dancing for A Phantom's Lullaby once more... only, this time, there's going to be a crowd enjoying the performance!

7 weeks (approx) to go before SYF Central Judging.
I know that you are putting in a lot of effort for the past months and we really appreciate the efforts everyone has put in. Judging by your progress, I think you're all doing fine.

Don't worry to much alright? just... do your thingy thingy with lots of confidence!Well even if you are not confident... just pretend that you are!! You'll be alright. Just 7 weeks more to go!

Drink lots of water, take sufficient vitamins, and also.. remember, don't overly neglect your academics!! It's almost impossible I know!(been there, done that!).. but you have to keep it up ok?

TRUE. we have to live and breathe syf for the next couple of months! u guys study too eh? im watching u! 0.0 everyone must be punctual and take the initiative to do ure warm ups properly! it's not to do for fun! it's to prepare u for intensive dancing! and to make u more flexible! our aim is to make everyone do a split by our syf competiton!so that we can score more points!! ms tan and the whole school expects us to get a gold! nothing less! imagine if out of eldds, band and choir we're the only cca that gets a disappointing silver. no no, not acceptable. that's why u have to practise during your free time! and to take the initiative to clear your doubts immediately when u have them! ok?? everyone knows what to do??!! :) i love each and everyone of u! :) muaks! love love *hug hugs* :) take careys everyone! and work hard!!!

Danceworkers! hope u've enjoyed dancing so far! the team 'sizzle' and 'jam' and 'fling' were pretty good last year! 'sizzle' was the champion team in singapore while jam and fling won lots of other prizes like first for cheerleading and collage! danceworks is no laughing matter and definitely no joke. although yes, u'll have a lot of fun preparing for it. dun forget that your ultimate aim is to be first! and NOT to have a good time. if u wanted to just play around, then do not take part in danceworks. since years ago, ij has been setting a very high standard for dancing Hip Hop. And ij dance ensemble is KNOWN by the teams in singapore to have always done well for danceworks.We were always seen as a tough competitor. Now the seniors are passing on this responsibility to you. Don't disappoint us. Please, at least get to the finals. Nothing less. That is the ultimate least qualification that u are allowed to achieve. so, grp leaders, make sure that your group is prepared. Don't forget,your mindset is also very crucial. Although talent is important, it's even more vital if you actually possess a great passion for dance and actually want to constantly improve youself. That means that u actually want to dance better and u are actually willing to work hard for it. Dancing is not about being noticed. It's about putting yourself through the endless and countless trainings just to achieve the best results and to be the best dancer that u can ever be. U have to be aware that it's not an easy feat. Lastly, U have to BELIEVE in yourself. and KNOW that u can make it. WE have faithe in you. good luck. :) U CAN DO IT! :)

Hey Girls (SYF dancers),

I must say that I am pretty impressed by the progress today! Mid Jan and you are already halfway through the piece!

I know that the pace of this piece is "slightly" faster than the previous one (heh heh heh! evil grins!) but hey.. though it still looks sort of messy, but hey.. It still managed to impressed me! I can see the whole dance taking shape already and THAT's COOL!

Keep it up k? the school and all your seniors (alumni members) have very high expectations of you girls.. so.... keep up the spirits!
